Molasses and ginger cookies!

These cookies are a perfect blend of cozy spices! They are one of my favorite cookies to have during the cold weather! They are soft and fill you with warmth in the first bite! The recipe is fairly simple so you can whip up a batch in no time!

Ingredients:

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
3/4 ( 1 1/2 sticks ) butter, softened
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup extra sugar for rolling cookies in

Directions:

1. preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. place softened butter in medium mixing bowl and add sugar. Mix together until creamy
3. Add in the egg, beat well and then add molasses
4. Combine the rest of the dry ingredients in a separate bowl and mix with a wire whisk or fork until combined
5. Add the dry ingredients to the butter egg, sugar and molasses mixture mix well to form a stiff dough
6. roll dough in to approximately 1-1 1/2 inch balls roll in sugar and place onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet keeping cookies about 1 1/2 inches apart
7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, remove from cookie sheet to a wire rack and let cool
Enjoy!!
