Vanilla Tea Cake

 
 
If you have ever looked for a simple, light yummy cake to accompany tea or coffee or just something light for dessert this is the recipe for you! This cake is so simple but yet so yummy! It is a big hit with family and friends that have tried it! I hope you enjoy this simple yet very yummy recipe!
 
 
Ingredients:
 
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2/3 cups milk
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
powdered sugar for dusting over finished cake
 
Directions:
 
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
2. In large mixing bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt
3. Add the milk, softened butter or margarine, egg and vanilla. Beat with electric mixer on low speed until combined, then beat on medium speed for 1 minute, you can use a wire whisk if preferred!
4. Pour the batter into a greased 8-inch round or square baking pan.
5. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean!
6. Allow cake to cool for 15 minutes in the pan, remove from the pan and let cool completely on a wire rack.
7. Transfer to a plate and dust with powdered sugar! ( You can place a cookie cutter on the cake before dusting and it will leave the shape as a simple design! )
